A baseline of skills, lacrosse IQ and athletic ability are expected at varying degrees based on age and our focus is on helping players improve with each season. To do so, we go beyond our regularly scheduled practices and incorporate indoor training at our facility each week where we work on stick skills, stop/start speed, and strength. We pride ourselves in offering sports performance training that produces tangible results on the field.
This is as important for our coaches as it is for our players and requires being open to learning and feedback as well as being able to act on it. At ESL we are constantly inspired by those around us including other coaches, peers and players and we strive to incorporate new approaches and learnings into our program—keeping it fresh and ensuring our teams and players are always improving. We are always welcoming of feedback as we believe it to be a valuable tool in our development and we expect the same from our players.
The motto we live by is “Don’t sit back and let things happen, step up and make something happen!” We believe that every athlete is responsible for his or her own improvement, and the improvement of those around them and it is the responsibility of our club program to provide a challenging environment where the most learning and advancement can occur. We know that you learn more from a loss than a win which is why we pride ourselves on entering tournaments we know will challenge our teams and players, rather than going for the easy “W”. It is also our responsibility to guarantee that each of our players get enough time on the field to advance their skills which is why we cap our roster at 24 players for each team and have only one team per age group.
In the end, our goal is to have our athletes play lacrosse at the highest level. If the above philosophies align with your own, come check us out!
